Empordà Forest

Overview

Empordà Forest is a technical Robert von Hagge course set among established pine woodland at Empordà Golf Resort. Conceived in 1988, its narrow playing corridors, sheltered fairways and changing light create a more secluded style of golf than the resort’s open Dunes course.

Course Details

The layout follows natural routes through the pine forest, with narrower fairways placing greater emphasis on direction and accuracy. Elevated greens are defended by strategically positioned bunkers, while smaller water features add further variation.

Fast fairways influence ball movement and shot positioning. The woodland also provides protection from the wind commonly experienced across the Empordà region. The course places greater demands on technique and concentration than physical strength.

Course Highlights

The sixth introduces water into the hole design, adding a distinct strategic feature within the wooded layout.

The par-five 13th is the course’s most testing hole. Its dogleg places importance on tee-shot positioning, while a bunker beside the green increases the difficulty of the approach.

Changes in light, tighter corridors and the surrounding pine trees give each section of the course its own visual character.

Practice Facilities

Empordà Golf Resort provides a driving range, putting greens and a dedicated short-game area. The facilities support pre-round preparation and focused practice across the long game, putting and shots around the green.

The resort’s modern clubhouse overlooks the golf courses and surrounding countryside. Facilities include a professional shop stocking golf clothing and equipment.
