Thracian Cliffs Golf Course

Overview

Thracian Cliffs Golf Course is an 18-hole Gary Player Signature design set along Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. Occupying 85 hectares of clifftop terrain, the course follows the natural contours above the sea, with coastal views from every hole.

Gary Player played the course’s first complete round when Thracian Cliffs officially opened on 4 June 2011.

Course Details

The course runs along 4.5 kilometres of rugged coastline within Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort. Its modern design uses several tee positions to provide suitable playing options for different handicaps and levels of experience.

Length, elevation changes and exposed coastal positions place importance on accuracy and considered shot selection. Fairways follow the cliff edge, with the Black Sea influencing both the visual character and strategic demands of the round.

Course Highlights

The sixth is the official signature hole. Played from a clifftop tee, its green lies around 40 metres below, cut into the hillside beside the Black Sea. The hole measures more than 210 metres from the back tee.

The seventh and eighth continue along the coast, bringing the sea directly into play and placing further pressure on accuracy.

Thracian Cliffs hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2013, bringing leading international players to the Gary Player-designed layout.

Practice Facilities

Thracian Cliffs Golf Academy provides private and group tuition for beginners and amateur golfers of different ages and abilities.

Instruction is shaped around each player’s technique, biomechanics and swing tendencies, with lessons focused on specific areas of development.

Clubhouse & Facilities

The clubhouse terrace provides uninterrupted views across the course and Black Sea.

A full-service professional shop is located beside the clubhouse at the golf course entrance. Its selection includes golf clothing, equipment, accessories and golf balls.
