Historic Costa Brava
Golf de Pals
Play the oldest golf course on the Costa Brava, set among mature pine trees beside Pals Beach.
This 18-hole, par-73 layout combines narrow opening holes with longer, more open fairways.
Overview
Golf de Pals is the oldest golf course on the Costa Brava. Opened in 1966 and designed by F.W. Hawtree, the course runs through an established pine forest beside Pals Beach. Golf World International included Golf de Pals among Spain’s top ten courses in November 2003.
Course Details
This 18-hole, par-73 course measures 6,263 metres from the white tees and 5,156 metres from the red tees. Its distinctive par configuration consists of five par fives, nine par fours and four par threes.
The course follows a traditional British design, shaped around narrow fairways, mature pines, deep bunkers and carefully positioned greens.
Course Highlights
The opening holes are shorter and place a firm emphasis on accuracy. Narrow fairways, subtle doglegs and bunkered greens reward controlled drives and precise approach play.
From the 12th hole, the character changes. Fairways become wider, holes grow longer and the greens increase in size. Hazards placed throughout the course add further variety to the round.
Golf de Pals has hosted numerous national and European professional tournaments, including the Spanish Open and the Catalonia Ladies Masters. The course has also staged the PGA Pre-Qualifying School on several occasions.
Practice Facilities
The practice area includes a driving range with 50 tees, 18 of which are covered. Golfers also have access to putting, pitching and chipping greens, along with dedicated practice bunkers.
Clubhouse & Facilities
The English-style clubhouse provides a traditional setting after the round. Facilities include a restaurant, pro shop, equipment rental services, swimming pool and wellness area.
Restaurant Golf de Pals serves Mediterranean dishes prepared with local ingredients, with traditional rice dishes forming an established part of its menu.
The 19th Hole Bar has the character of a comfortable English pub. Its terrace overlooks the ninth green and the teeing areas for the first and tenth holes.
Location
Golf de Pals lies within a pine forest beside Pals Beach on the Costa Brava. The course forms part of La Costa Beach & Golf Resort and has direct access from the hotel garden.
Why Play Here
Golf de Pals combines historic standing with a varied par-73 layout. Its shift from tight, accuracy-led opening holes to longer and more open later holes creates a balanced test for different levels of golfer.
Its tournament history, extensive practice facilities and direct connection to La Costa Beach & Golf Resort make the course well suited to a Costa Brava golf holiday.
