Overview

El Rompido South Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 course located in Huelva, Andalusia. Designed by Álvaro Arana and opened in October 2003, the South Course was the first of the resort’s two courses to welcome golfers.

Surrounding the clubhouse, the course combines pine forests, olive groves and coastal marshland within a distinctive natural setting. Course Highlights

The South Course features two contrasting nine-hole layouts, each presenting different scenery and technical challenges. Fairways pass through established woodland and open areas bordering the coastal marshlands, creating a varied playing environment.

Strategic positioning and accuracy play an important role throughout the round. Generous greens offer inviting targets, although their pace demands careful judgement on approach shots and putts.

Practice Facilities

El Rompido South provides an extensive practice area covering more than 40,000 square metres, with dedicated facilities for long-game practice, short-game development and putting.

Facilities include:

• Driving Range: 275 metres in length with 20 practice bays.
• Putting Green: An extensive putting area featuring 18 flags, accommodating up to 16 golfers.
• Short-Game Practice: A dedicated green with two bunkers, accommodating more than 12 players.
• Chipping Green: A separate practice area with capacity for more than 16 golfers simultaneously.
• Golf Academy: The Peter Ballingall Golf Academy has a dedicated driving range with eight practice bays.

These facilities provide opportunities to practise before a round or spend additional time developing specific aspects of the game.

Clubhouse & Facilities

The South Course clubhouse features contemporary, minimalist architecture, with spacious interiors and outdoor terraces overlooking the golf course, Piedras River and Atlantic Ocean.

The upper-floor La Terraza restaurant offers several dining areas, including the Orange Tree Patio, indoor restaurant, Ninth Hole Balcony and outdoor terrace. Large windows provide views across the course and surrounding marshlands.

The clubhouse also houses the resort’s golf shop, offering golf clothing, equipment and accessories from established brands, alongside access to the Golf Academy.
